One Can Never Be TOO Patriotic

Have I shown you this pattern yet?

I can't remember.

plus,

I can't find it.

So I apologize if it is a repeat

and hope you like it if it is new.

I wanted to take Miss E 

something special'for the 4th of July.

Since I LOVE thread

this is what I came up with.

I wish I had white

instead of cream

but I like the Early Americana look

that the cream gives it.

The front and back look pretty much alike

so it doesn't make a difference

if the buttons are on the front

or the back.

I really like the open weave

of the top.

To be honest,

I wanted to make a dress, 

but I got tired working

on the skirt part.

So, a top it became.

As you can tell, 

Miss E likes it so much

she had to wear it for the 4th of July.

And by the size,

it looks like she will be wearing it next year too.

Oh, the names comes from Miss E's late Grandma, Cindy.

She always said, "One can never be TOO Patriotic."

Scottish Saltire and American Flag Heart

Here are the finished results of this design. I am very pleased with the way they both turned out. The pattern calls for the heart to be outlined in black, and the inside colors outlined in the cross stitch color.

Then, I wondered what it would look like if I outlined everything "outline-able" in black.

Which do you like the best? I've added a pole in the upper right side-bar for your answer to this question. I can't decide myself so I need every one's "professional eye" view to help me out
 

I'm not sure if I am going to frame them or finish them as ornaments. Wanna vote on that too? Okay  . help me out here too. I want to send one to Gordon, the gentleman in Edinburgh who discovered information on my maternal great great grandfather, Watson, who immigrated to the US form Scotland. The 2nd one, I want to send to Bruce, a descendant of James, Grandpa Watson's brother, that Gordon found for me.

Patriotic Crochet Along

Megan, at Crochet Every Day , is having a patriotic Crochet Along. This seemed VERY appropriate for me, since I am a red, white and blue girl, to participate in this CAL.

And, of course, I had to finish it up in one day . . go figure . . not too OCD am I?

Something New

I tell you, I just LOVE making these hearts.

I figured

that since I made the Scottish Saltire,

I needed to make a

Union Jack for the United Kingdom.

Scottish / American Heart

To celebrate my Scottish roots and to make as a Thank You gift for the man who did the research in Scotland for me, I designed a heart combining the Stars and Stripes and the Saltire.
