What does one do when one has a pile of stockings lying around the house?
One decides to use them as a Christmas gift.
But who, in their right mind, needs 25 stockings about 2" x 4"?
So, this one becomes creative.
One lays them out on the kitchen table and a light bulb goes off in my head . . .
How about an Advent Stocking Garland? What do you think?
Use some Christmas-y ribbon, find some mini-clothes pins (I either found these in the scrapbook department, or maybe the baby-clothes department of AC Moore) and hang the stockings on the ribbon.
VIOLA! Advent Stockings!
To add to the Advent theme, I found 25 days worth of Bible verses, typed them up, printed them off, laminated them (well, really, I used clear packaging tape) so they will last through the years. So now, everyday from Dec 1 through Dec 25, a different section of the Bible can be read that tells about the upcoming birth of Jesus Christ.

My Little Punky Noodle
This is the reason I crocheted so much this year.
My little Punky Noodle
in her Christmas gear
made by Aunt Paula.
Eating her new sweater and wearing her Santa/elf hat.

My little aviator. Looks like she is ready to go on a dog sled ride. Click HERE for more information. |
Rudolph's little sister. Her momma said she was more interested in the paper. Can't imagine that from a 6 month old. Can you? LOLOL |
Momma and Elizabeth in her Snowman Hat with his scarf. Click HERE for more info. |
Good Feeling
Now, tell me, isn't this just the cutest thing?
It has a squeaker in the nose, belly and, I think, there are a couple in the legs.
We have three neighborhood dogs to give treats to, and three family togs that get gifts. So we stopped at Petco's "treat bar" and filled up on 6 treats of quite a few varieties.
Then, I had to go searching. I wanted to find a rawhide chew in a candy cane shape. Finally found one right behind the treat bar. This thing has to be a good yard from top to bottom . . . can't wait to see how she handles this one.
And last, but not least, I decided she needs another toy to keep her mind busy. She had a toy, that was Sadies', where she had to roll it to get her treats. She didn't care for it. I think she is like her momma, to lazy to work for food,
But this looked interesting. She may "work for treats." Hope she does. I'll like to see how she figures it out.
There are 10 compartments where you can place treats. The dog is supposed to figure out which "leg" has the treat and then open it up. You can adjust the tension so it can be easier to open, or harder to open. Hope she likes it.
Poor Abby, Mathew, Marcus and Nosy. They don't play with toys. But, they do like to bat things around for a while. So they got some mice and some balls with bells. They will love them until they bat them under something and lose them :)
I think the BEST part of the trip was buying a 20 (or are they 25) pound bag of cat food and one of dog food for the local charity that Petco supports. And donated $20 to the Petco Foundation. I know these animals can use food and money more than my babies need presents.
Have you bought your fur-babies their Christmas gifts yet? If not, better get out and get it done. If not, the stores will be picked clean.

Great News and Christmas Gift
I forgot to post this yesterday.
Friday, my sister in law had a PET scan to see how the chemo and radiation worked to treat her esophageal cancer, which had made a tumor in the lower end of the esophagus and had already moved to the lymph nodes.
well, I got the long awaited call from the brother yesterday and there are absolutely NO SIGNS of any cancer in her body, and the tumor is almost un-discernible!
The prayers that had gone out for her had been answered.
so, today I was able to go about arranging for the Family Christmas Present I wanted to send to the brother an this family.
I had found a 1st Christmas as a Grandma, one for Grandpa and one for Dad in a Bronner's catalogue. I decided I wanted to find a Christmas ornament for the brother, his wife, their 4 kids, a wife, a significant other and their 1st grandchild Then I thought, "wouldn't they been AWESOME arranged in a real fir wreath?"
I waited because I wasn't going to do it if they found out this was going to be the sil's 1st and only Christmas as a grandma . . but, now, I could do it.
I called the greenhouse where the oldest nephew had worked. They do some of the best work around. . . and the girl who does most of it knows what I like. I called her today. we decided I would mail the ornaments to myself in care of her at the greenhouse. Then, she would use her judgement on the size of wreath to make so they can put it on their table for the Christmas season.
The ornaments were ordered today, so i shall call her within a day or two to let her know what to put on the card . . . then wait for a picture from the niece to see what it looks like.
Will post a pix when I get one.

Santa or Elf Hat
Here is my latest pattern
a Santa or Elf Hat

1st Christmas.
I made it in Red Heart Shimmer.
Too bad it doesn't
"shimmer"
in the photos.
Don't you think it would be adorable
made in stripes for an Elf Hat?

Bags of Coal
Just wait until you see these!
Did your mom and dad tell you that Santa would give you a bag of coal if you weren't good? Mine did.
As a matter of fact, one year when we came downstairs. AT the bottom of the steps, on the table that always sat there, was a bundle of Willow Branches tied with a big red bow! Mom had told my older brother that, "If you aren't good, Lee Allen, Santa is going to bring you a bundle of switches!"
Well, she made a believer out of both of us . . talk about a COOL MOM! And people wonder where I get my warped sense of humor. Go figure?
Any-who . . here is why I wanted to post this. Megan, Newly Wife, has posted directions, photo and written, on how to make these Bags of Coal . . aren't they just adorable plus, they areSO EASY!
