I made a "deal" with Molly and Lynn from Crafting for a Cause. If they would make the afghans I would make the sweater. I have already entered the complete layette that Molly and I partnered on. This time, I just did the sweater. She had already mailed the afghan, hat and booties to Pine Ridge's Indian Health Services OB Ward. I am almost 100% sure I made a pretty good match with this sweater.
Lynn had made two afghans and hats. When Gene and I opened the boxes we were amazed at the gorgeous colors and patterns of her afghans. I had to match these with multiple colors.
The first set was the hardest to match. I had never made this sweater changing yarn color every row but when I did, it came out being a pretty good match. (A lot better than the picture shows.)
The second set was the easiest. It had yellow and pink in it and I actually had several shades in each color. Gene and I decided these were the best.
In both of the latest sets I used Herrschner's 2-ply Afghan Yarn for the socks. I like it for the fact that it comes in more vibrant colors than baby yarn, yet it is close to baby yarn in thickness.
Next on the list.... a Baby Cozy for Chase. I just found the dimensions for the one I want to do. It will have to be modified. The pattern says it is for a newborn to 3-month old. But, it is only 20 inches long and Chase was born at 21 inches.
Modify is my middle name for now~
