Soft Cotton Cardi Sweater

This pattern is named "soft cotton cardi sweater"
and was designed by Katya Novikova.
My only problem was I used variegated yarn.
It worked perfectly until I put the third strip in.
I didn't notice it had "varied" to a light green
until I was to far past it to frog.
What do you think of  my model?
My neighbor boy, who is the right age for the sweater,
modeled it for me, but wouldn't stand still for a pix.
Well, I guess I could have but I'm lazy.
So I made a bunny applique
to place over it.
I think that worked.

I used Deborah Norville
Serenity Sock Yarn
for this sweater.

Red, Yellow and Green Sweater

I designed this pattern in Aug 2010. Today, I got an email from Ravelry that it was being rejected because it had never been finished. I was surprised . . . but when I went to check the pattern, I still had edits that needed to be done before I could publish the pattern.

Needless to say, I fixed the edits so I could publish the pattern. Now, I have another pattern I can make for Miss E that I  had forgotten all about. All I need to do is find some cute buttons for her sweater.

I hope you like it.

Easter Clothes

It was time to make Miss Elizabeth some crocheted "treasures" for her 1st Easter.  had one hat made, a pattern I have LOVED forever. Then I found a second hat, with a flower, and had to make it.

Next came a pair of saddle shoes and finally, I decided to use the yarn I have been using for a swap to make a sweater. When the sweater was almost done, I found the cutest stuffed toy that just screamed out to me.

Here is the culmination of the last week's crocheting.

Bunny Hat on the right is from Annie’s Crochet Newsletter, Sept-Oct 1990.

The six buttons down the front match the button hole band PERFECT ! ! ! ! !
And the best part, they were 4 for $0/78 at WalMart!
You can barely tell that there is an Olive row between the Pink and Chocolate.

Just love making Join-As-You-Go Granny things.
By the way, do you know that one of the names for a one round granny is a Saltine?

Two little Bunny Hats.
Big ear on the right and pink lined ear on the left belong to the hat on the bottom.
Flower hat and saddles.

Saddles and the Bunny Hat with matching ears :)

LOVE the way everything goes together.

If you would like to buy the pattern pattern for Elizabeth's Saltine Sweater, it is available for $4.99 in my Ravelry Store, "The Fur~Babies Momma." Just click the buy now button to be transported to my shop.

Almost Done

All I need to do is find some buttons and Elizabeth's sweater, for her 1st Easter will be finished.

I LOVE the way the cuff turned out.

It's kind of hard to see, but that is an Olive Green to the left of the Brown.

"Not a bad job," I say to myself while patting myself on the back. "The idea in my head actually came out as a pretty decent sweater."

Miss American Pie

I was all ready to post this pattern and got sidetracked listening to Corrine Bailey Ray on the radio. Some of her songs really make me boogie when I listen to them.

But, enough of that. This is business... or is it Monkey Business? (Now my mind is going to the boat that Gary Hart and whatever her name is were photographed on. Wasn't that it's name? Where is kmac when I need her?)

I Digress.... LOL ... there is my favorite term again.

I adapted, modified, embellished and all around changed a pattern I had designed earlier and came up with what I call Miss American Pie. If you would like to buy this pattern, it is available at my Ravelry store. The buttons will lead the way.

And remember, if you decide to buy the pattern

100% of the sale will benefit the animals at
the Erie County SPCA in Tonawanda, New York
and
The Cass County Humane Society in Logansport, Indiana.

An American Pie Lover~

~* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

Let's hear it for Don McLean. What a song, what a time in my life!

For those of you who are UNLUCKY enough to have never heard the song, here are the lyrics.

Don McLean's American Pie lyrics

A long, long time ago...
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And, maybe, they'd be happy for a while.

But february made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver.
Bad news on the doorstep;
I couldn't take one more step.

I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride,
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died.

So bye-bye, miss american pie.
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

Did you write the book of love,
And do you have faith in God above,
If the Bible tells you so?
Do you believe in rock 'n roll,
Can music save your mortal soul,
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

Well, I know that you're in love with him
`cause I saw you dancin' in the gym.
You both kicked off your shoes.
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues.

I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck,
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died.

I started singin',
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

Now for ten years we've been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rollin' stone,
But that's not how it used to be.
When the jester sang for the king and queen,
In a coat he borrowed from james dean
And a voice that came from you and me,

Oh, and while the king was looking down,
The jester stole his thorny crown.
The courtroom was adjourned;
No verdict was returned.
And while lennon read a book of marx,
The quartet practiced in the park,
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died.

We were singing,
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

Helter skelter in a summer swelter.
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter,
Eight miles high and falling fast.
It landed foul on the grass.
The players tried for a forward pass,
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast.

Now the half-time air was sweet perfume
While the sergeants played a marching tune.
We all got up to dance,
Oh, but we never got the chance!
`cause the players tried to take the field;
The marching band refused to yield.
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?

We started singing,
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

Oh, and there we were all in one place,
A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again.
So come on: jack be nimble, jack be quick!
Jack flash sat on a candlestick
Cause fire is the devil's only friend.

Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage.
No angel born in hell
Could break that satan's spell.
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite,
I saw satan laughing with delight
The day the music died

He was singing,
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news,
But she just smiled and turned away.
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before,
But the man there said the music wouldnt play.

And in the streets: the children screamed,
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed.
But not a word was spoken;
The church bells all were broken.
And the three men I admire most:
The father, son, and the holy ghost,
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died.

And they were singing,
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

They were singing,
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "this'll be the day that I die
."

Christmas Day

I should be down here writing something very "Christmas-y" but instead, I am thinking of the many "fur-babies" who are not getting to celebrate Christ's birth the way my 5 "fur-babies" are celebrating.

So, I am changing another free pattern that I had to one that will now cost.

All of the profits from the sale of this sweater pattern will be split between two animal groups. One is the Erie County SPCA which is located very close to us in Buffalo, NY.The other is the Cass County Humane Society which is located in my hometown of Logansport, Indiana. Since all of my "fur babies" could have ended up in the same situation as the animals in these two places.

So, From My Heart, Through My Hands, I hope you like this pattern enough that you will help me support my two causes AND receive a beautiful pattern for yourself.

In Support of "Fur-Babies"

I have decided that, from now on, when I make a pattern I will no longer offer them for free. Instead, I will donate all of the profits between two animal groups. One is the Erie County SPCA which is located very close to us in Buffalo, NY.The other is the Cass County Humane Society which is located in my hometown of Logansport, Indiana.

I saw a pattern on Ravelry that a woman did in memory of her pet. She was donating to her local animal shelter. This made me realize that I too could do something that would benefit the abandoned animals in my two towns. Since all of my "fur babies" could have ended up in the same situation as the animals in these two places.

So, From My Heart, Through My Hands, I hope you like it enough that you will help me support my two causes.

Tweed Sweater #1

I have finally posted this sweater in Ravelry so I needed to get it on here. The name of the pattern comes from a tweed Christmas sweater I once saw. I thought the this sweater looked like it, thus the name. I had seen sweaters that looked like this, but I couldn't find the patterns. I was pretty happy with the way that the pattern worked out.

EDITED: Christmas Day 2008

I have decided that, from now on, when I make a pattern I will no longer offer them for free. Instead, I will donate all of the profits between two animal groups. Sweaters for Afghans Going to Pine Ridge

I have been a busy little beaver the last couple of days.

I made a "deal" with Molly and Lynn from Crafting for a Cause. If they would make the afghans I would make the sweater. I have already entered the complete layette that Molly and I partnered on. This time, I just did the sweater. She had already mailed the afghan, hat and booties to Pine Ridge's Indian Health Services OB Ward. I am almost 100% sure I made a pretty good match with this sweater.

Lynn had made two afghans and hats. When Gene and I opened the boxes we were amazed at the gorgeous colors and patterns of her afghans. I had to match these with multiple colors.

The first set was the hardest to match. I had never made this sweater changing yarn color every row but when I did, it came out being a pretty good match. (A lot better than the picture shows.)

The second set was the easiest. It had yellow and pink in it and I actually had several shades in each color. Gene and I decided these were the best.

In both of the latest sets I used Herrschner's 2-ply Afghan Yarn for the socks. I like it for the fact that it comes in more vibrant colors than baby yarn, yet it is close to baby yarn in thickness.
Next on the list.... a Baby Cozy for Chase. I just found the dimensions for the one I want to do. It will have to be modified. The pattern says it is for a newborn to 3-month old. But, it is only 20 inches long and Chase was born at 21 inches.

Modify is my middle name for now~

"Berries, Cream & Lemon Drops"

It's time to show off the "Berries, Cream & Lemon Drops" sweater. It was made for Miss Mady's shower. I hope it fits her sometime in her young life. If now, I'll tell her mom to keep it for one of her baby dolls later on.
If you like this pattern, it is available in my Ravelry store.

100% of the sale will benefit the animals at the Erie County SPCA in Tonawanda, New York, and The Cass County Humane Society in Logansport, Indiana.

The Animals and I Thank You if you do buy the pattern.

Miss Mady's Cardigan

I think I may actually have the hang of this ... except I couldn't get Indy's video to show up in the blog ... so I had to make a link for it. Oh well ... such is life in the fast lane.

I finally sent this URL to everyone I would like to see it. Then tonight I found out that if anyone tried to leave a comment,, it probably wouldn't work. SO I think I changed the info so people outside of Blogger can post comments.

I am working on the CUTEST sweater for my soon to be born, great-niece Miss Madelyn Michelle Latta. (Tell me if I spelled it correctly, Gloria, so I can change it if I need to.) It was in a magazine I got a couple of weeks ago. I liked it a lot but figured I couldn't follow the pattern. You know me ... I do granny squares and easy stuff.

Well, to my surprise it was pretty easy. I started it on Saturday night and I have the pieces done. All I have to do now is connect the left front to the back, the sleeves to the body and then add the pockets on the front. (I have the right side connected already ... MAN, it was SO EASY ! ! ! ! ! Then lastly, I will have to make some flowers to add at the end. I can't wait to get it done and post it. I am like a proud mom ... my first "real" cardigan sweater :-}

I could post the front of the sweater. It looks AWFUL because the color is all off in the photo. I think I will do that ... so if Gloria reads this she won't know what the sweater really looks like. (Andrea's shower is this week-end so I have to have it done by then. I will have it put together by tomorrow night ... but then I have to finish it off. I wonder if those directions will be easy or cause me to come to a crashing halt?)
