What the Hell Am I Doing Up? . . . Squares #5

For some reason the song lyrics "It's 3 o'clock in the morning, We danced the whole night through" keep running through my head. I have no idea why but I wish that was the reason I am up at, as a former student/neighbor would say, "the butt-crack of dawn!" The birds were only awake a little it before me today. I laid in bed and finally decided to get up at 6:45.

Hell, I never got up THAT early, without an alarm clock, all 34 years that I taught school. Now that I am retired, I'm lucky if I see the light of day before 9:00 am! It still amazes me, that without much work, I reverted to my childhood and adolescent ways of staying up at night and sleeping in in the morning.

When this first started, I thought I was having problem sleeping. Then, I remembered lying in bed, on Ottawa Street, and waiting to hear the "curfew" go off at 10:00 pm. Then, and only then, did I decide to go to sleep. Now, Mom & Dad always put me to bed at 8:00 then, so I laid awake for 2 hours. I guess it was my way of saying "I'll stay awake as long as I want." Even though, at the time, I don't know if they knew it.If they did, they never said anything.

Maybe, this is the reason I can lay in bed, wide awake, and not have that "urge" to immediately get up. Too many years of practicing laying in bed awake! Anyway, enough of this. I decided that since I couldn't sleep, it was about time I added more squares to the blog AND do the laundry . . . both of which need to be done in the basement. At least by blogging, I can hear the washer finish and the dryers buzz when it is done.
