Cat, at By Hook, had a sweater pattern she wanted tested. Of course, I had to volunteer. I do like testing and seeing if the person's idea comes out the way she wants.
Here are the two she has finished.
Now, I did, a-hum, "adjust" the pattern about 1/2 way through the body of the sweater.
I had the bodice done and after about four rows into the body of the sweater it started to S*C*R*E*A*M at me to make a belt beneath the bodice. It wasn't a part of the pattern, but the SCREAMING was riving me nuts.
Then, I remembered a sweater I used to make called a "Diaper Sweater." It was a short sweater that I always liked. So, again, the sweater S*C*R*E*A*M*E*D at me to make it a short sweater. So I made the body just a "smidgen" longer than the bodice.
Now, Cat's pictures are a LOT clearer than mine, but you will get the gist of what I did. I am pretty pleased with the outcome.
I did a shell edging on my sleeves.
I went from the shell on the edges to a simple sc around the neck.
I think I made the tie a little to thick,
but we won't tell anyone, will we?
And the finished sweater.
I'm happy with it and can't believe how different my interpretation looks from Cat's
I like them all!
ReplyDeleteIt's adorable. You'll be glad you made the tie a little thicker because with wear they tend to thin out. It's the voice of experience speaking here. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteReally, really cute! Was it as fast going as mine? I know you had the bodice finished before I did!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try it again using a different stitch for the bodice and see if I can make it work! Love fussing with this stuff! Never want to be a real designer, though. Too much trouble!
