Crack Pot Cake

Did that title grab your attention? I hope so . . . it makes me laugh.

Kat, at Hookin' It with Mr Lick Lick, posted a recipe on her blog a day or two ago.  When I read the title on my Blogger Dashboard I thought it said "Crack Pot Cake." I did a double take and realized it said "Crock Pot Cake."

Well, to me it shall always be Crack Pot Chocolate Cake . . . because I think it is going to be addicting.

It is so easy to make. You dump everything in a bowl and mix.


Now you KNOW anything with eggs, Chocolate Pudding and Sour Cream can't be all bad . . . oh, I forgot the chocolate chips, devil's food cake mix some water and oil . . . and as it was mixed, it just "oozed" together into gorgeousness.


See how nice it mixed up? Looks almost like brownies, doesn't it?



Now THIS picture is a secret. Dad and I had a joke . . . "Paula, clean out the bowl. You left enough in there for another serving." As I sat there with the spatula full of whatever and marks of whatever I was eating all over my mouth . . . LOLOL . . . I am SO GLAD Dad made so many fun memories with me. He worked all day as a switchman on the PRR (Pennsylvania Rail Road) and at night he was normally up in their bedroom, at his desk, studying for whatever his next level would be in the National Guard. So he was busy, but he found time for us . . not like dad's today who are immersed in their children's lives . . . we were allowed into Dad's life. One of my favorite things to do on the weekend was to go to the Armory with him and run wild . . find shell casings in the sand in the firing range, run all around, slipping, sliding and jumping on the basketball floor and learning what a urinal was because there was one in the bathroom that women used when women were in the building.

But, enough about growing up  . . . here's the recipe.

Kat's Crack Pot Chocolate Cake

1 box chocolate cake mix
8 oz sour cream
1 cup chocolate morsels

(Kat used peanut butter but I used regular chocolate chips)1 cup water
4 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 pkg chocolate instant pudding mix


  1. mix it all together, spray crock pot with nonstick spray, pour mix in crock pot.
  2. cover and cook on low 6-8 hours or high 3-4 hours.
  3. I went with the high and it was done in 4 hours, Kat's was done in 3.
Now, to see how long I can wait to cut a piece, frost it with the Cream Cheese frosting we bought and then add a couple of scoops of Edy's Vanilla Slow Churned Ice Cream . . . then I'll waddle to the living room, flop down in my "hole" and slather it all over my :0}

Edit: AS I was getting ready to save this I remembered this . . . I was the only girl who was at the armory on those Saturdays . . . everyone else had sons and they were older than me . . .wonder if that is one of the reasons boys/men never impressed me and I have always been able to hold my own when around them. Even my parents best friends had sons . . . sure glad I had female cousins and a neighbor girl for some evening out . . LOLOL

  2. Yummy... I love it, Crack Pot Cake. I don't have a Crack Pot though.. :( I almost got one, once; after watching an infomercial for "Set It and Forget It" cookbooks..

  3. I know why yours took longer than mine, I used my big oval crack pot and you used a conventional round crack pot. :o) But it was well worth the wait, now wasn't it? This is the EXACT reason I can't lose weight. lol. I really do need to get serious about it.
