Happy 500 Sunday

Back home again, in Indiana
And it seems that I can see.
The gleaming candle light still shining bright
through the Sycamores for me.

The new mown hay, sends all it's fragrance
Through the fields I used to roam.

When I dream about the moonlight on the Wabash,
Then I long for my Indiana home.

Now, enjoy Indiana University's own Straight No Chaser
as they sing for you this Indy 500 Sunday.

I never felt what this song meant
until I moved away from Indiana in 2006.
Now, I know.

So now,
I will sit in front of the TV
and watch the race . . .
something I couldn't do in Indiana
where it is blacked out.

So will listen to the familiar voices
of the announcers
and think about our visit home next month.

  1. I didn't know you were a Hoosier, too! Where is home for you? I live on the far westside of Indy and we are listening to the race outside on our patio (in the shade) on the radio. :-)
