Keeping Track of Calories and Exercise

I keep forgetting to add this to the blog.

Well, not this . . . . .
Everytime I look at this picture I think the following:
1. I can't believe how dark my hair is.
2. I can't believe how fat my arms, belly, boobs, cheeks and chin are :0{

It could have been kept under wraps for infinity. (But I figured I'd share it so all of you have an idea why my doctor asked if I would be interested in a weight loss program.) This was taken at my brother's house when Miss Elizabeth was 5 days old. She is wrapped up in a receiving blanket I edged for her. Her dad, my nephew, was so sweet. He came in carrying her in her car seat and as soon as he had gotten her out, he brought her to me to hold. I was so thrilled!

Anyway, we are 5 days short of 2 months in on our new LIVE IT plan . . no diet allowed . . I don't want to die doing it, I want to live. We have been going in for our cardio and strength training three times a week. It is nice when we finished . . I actually do feel better . . . but would I do it without the husband going to? I don't know.

I found a site online where we can track what we eat and our exercise . . . Everyday Health . You have to register, but it is free. It is the best online place I have found for keeping track of calories . . . they have, literally, thousands of foods in their data base. If you can't find your food, you can create your own and list the info needed. If it is a food you eat often, you can make it a favorite to find it easier.

If you want to keep track of your food an exercise, I would suggest you try it. If you do, let me know how successful you are at keeing track of your foods.

  1. Well done to you and your hubby, it's not easy as we get older, I will check your site out. I use my Fitness Pal, it's great for me, and I walk now again every day, one step at a time as they say and no not a diet but a better way to eat to live xxx

  2. I'm in the same boat as you. Want to loose weight - I ride my bike and after 2 weeks - I've gained more. Watch my diet - loose 8 pounds and then gain some. Ack! Magic wand please.

  3. Paula, I'm excited for you! Here's another good site for weight and calorie tracker that I'm using right now. It's free also with login. I love it because it shows me a chart of my weight loss or gain(heaven forbid)and according to how you set it up it shows you how many calories you need to stay under for the day in order to start lossing weight. We can follow each other too (my user name is: jozzy) if you'd like to help cheer each other on. You can also set it up for short goals, say like ten or 15 lbs at a time, which is great to keep the motivation up! I wish you the best on your journey to becoming a healthier & happier you on your "LIVE IT" plan! Also, congrats on your families newest addition!http://www.healthyweightcalc.com/

  4. I am trying to lose weight, too. Only ten pounds, but I cannot lose it. I had been walking for one hour, three times a week; when the kids were in school. Then summer came and they were home, "it's too hot" (it really is too hot here).. Now they are back in school and I am walking again. Gained four pounds I had lost, and still have nine to go. Or ten. I would be happy with nine though. Thanks for that link, I will have to check it out. Congratulations on Evan, too. (I am partial to that name, as it is our oldest son's name.) :D

  5. Good for you! I need to lose also but mine is mostly that I need exercise. Good luck on that with a bad back. I tried to power walk to the mailbox over the weekend and back and it about killed me. Both legs were numb and hurting.
