I finally got to meet my cross stitching friend, Denise, from Ohio. I live in Indiana so, I hope, I picked somewhere about halfway between our houses to meet.
I found out from Denise's blog (Riverside Stitching) that she was collecting Fostoria.
Denise and I finally meeting. I, of course, had to wear my favorite red, white and blue sweater. |
"Hum," I said to myself. "I wonder what pattern she is collecting?"
When I found out she was collecting the same pattern Mom had collected I said to the husband, "I have an idea. You know those two boxes of Fostoria I have that were Moms? I have never used them, yet couldn't part with these last two boxes, and would LOVE to give them to someone who would love them as much as Mom did. How about I give them to Denise?"
He thought this was one of the BEST idea I have ever had :)
We left home at 8:00 am to be at our final destination (Steak and Shake . .
This is Mom's Fostoria Pattern. I believe t is called the American Pattern. |
Roads between here and there were not to bad. Yes, there was some snow on the road going, but normal snow for an Indiana/Ohio winter. I drove most of the way there (the husband had a 270 degree detachment of his right retina, this makes driving in bad weather hard for him) and all of the way home.
Coming home we came a different way . . . it was PERFECT until we got to about 30 minutes from home. THEN it became the snow you HATE to drive in . . . east to west side of the highway had not been touched by a snow plow or sand/salt; white out conditions kept showing up which made me pray that the other drivers hadn't lost their winter driving skills (this was our 1st Winter Snow of the year); I fishtailed twice which sure got my blood pressure going; when we were about 1/2 hour from home the road became the worst of the whole day AND I lost the signage for the road we were on.
I stopped at a mini-mart and found out all I needed to do was to stay on the same street we were on and we wold end up where we wanted to be. I think losing the marked road was a good thing. We ended up closer to home this way had if we had followed the signs.
It had taken us 3 hour going and closer to 4 hours coming back home. But, all in all, I would do it again in the same conditions. The time we spent with Denise and her husband, and the looks on both their faces when they saw what we had brought to them was well worth the white knuckles I had when we got home.
See you when I have more to say :) Carry on . . . .
Blogging is great on so many levels, glad you had fun.
