Aiden's "Birth" Day

It's Friday, April 9, 2010, here in Tonawanda, New York, USA. We have been expecting a tiny neighbor for about 9 months now. When Indy woke Gene and I up for her visit to the "powder room" at 5:33 am, Gene looked out the bedroom windows to see if Aiden's mom and dad's car was still in the driveway. Of course it wasn't. They were to be at Niagara falls Memorial Hospital at 5:00 am so he could make his entrance into the world at 8:00 am.

Gene also noticed that their neighbor Dan had light turn on in his side porch area. We wondered if he went too. They had become so close that there was a pretty good chance that he went along with Grandma and Grandpa O'Donnell , who had spent the night.
When we went to bed last night I said to Gene, "I wonder how it feels to know that this is the last night of your life when you will go to bed without being a parent?"
Having never been in that situation, I'll bet is is pretty neat but a little daunting also.

Later in the morning, Gene saw Dan out in his driveway working on a sign . . he gave Gene all the "poop" on Aiden's arrival. I told Gene to tell him that we would get balloons to go with the sign he was making. When we got home with the balloons, Gene took them over and Dan asked him if he has any blue electrician's tape. . . he was either out or couldn't find his.

So,
World,
I present to you the sign
and front porch
that "Uncle" Dan created
to welcome Aiden
into the neighborhood.

May you and your parents live a rich and full life.
May God grace you with his blessings from today on.

Signed,
Grandma and Grandpa Tooke
