Rod's Fudge

"What," you may ask, "is Rod's Fudge?"

It is the fudge that I make every Christmas for Diane's husband Rod. It started out as just a plain fudge that I made one year and took to Diane's for Christmas.  I knew Rod liked it but when Diane told me this I knew I was onto something.

Diane told me that when she  and Rod were coming home from his parents, one Christmas, that he threw the fudge he got out the window. He said he could do that because he had Paula's fudge at home. I decided that anyone who would get rid of their mother's fudge for mine must really like what I made . . . so, every year since I have made him his own 8" x 8" x 2" pan of fudge.

I have no idea where I got the recipe, but it is so easy, and tastes SO GOOD, I just had to share it.

Ingredients:
3 C Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
14 oz Sweetened  Condensed Milk
Dash of Salt
1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1 C Nuts (chopped) . . . optional, I like mine plain so I don't know how it tastes with nuts
  1. Using a microwave, melt melt chips and milk. (I use a 2 quart measuring cup and heat on high for 60 - 90 seconds
  2. When thoroughly melted, stir in vanilla and nuts.
  3. Spread in wax paper l lined 8" x 8" x 8" baking pan.
  4. Chill until firm . . 2 hours +/-.
  5. Remove from pan, remove from foil . . . place on cutting board and cut into squares.
  6. Store at room temp.
I have made this up and stored in the fridge for 1 week and it still tasted wonderful.

Signed,
I LOVE To Make This at Christmas

  1. This is very close to the recipe my dad and I used to make every year. The fudge I make has no vanilla or salt but has 1/2 stick of butter. Now I'm curious to try this recipe to see which I like better!

Happy fudge-making, Paula...thanks for the recipe!

  5. Wow....that is easy. I thought making fudge was a long drawn out pain in the butt thing to do with a candy thermometer.
